Top 10: The best-dressed royals in October 2016

It's easy to see why some of the most stylish royals love wearing a fresh floral print. Not only is the playful look perfect for standing out in a crowd, but it's also seamlessly paired with colourful accessories, as the Duchess of Cambridge proved when she stepped out in a poppy-print Alexander McQueen gown. Kate expertly complemented the red and white dress with red suede heels – a favourite of the mother of two. Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde took a more subtle take on the trend this month in a rose-embellished dress by Belgian designer Esmeralda Ammoun.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, known for her bold sartorial choices, also opted for an eye-catching print to attend an event in her native Argentina, only hers came in the form of green leopard Givenchy. The A-line skater style midi number perfectly showed off the stylish queen's personality.

Leave it to Princess Eugenie to prove the endless appeal of a classic black dress – with a twist. The young British royal stepped out in a mod asymmetric black-and-white number and sleek black heels. For a pop of colour, she donned a felt hat in – what else – royal blue.


Other stylish royals who stood out this month were Queen Letizia of Spain (in racer-stripe tuxedo pants), Princess Sofia, Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark (in KENZO x H&M), and, of course, the Duchess of Cambridge (in looks by Erdem, Kate Spade and royal favourite Catherine Walker).
