Royal highlights of the month – October 2017

Princess Charlene of Monaco stunned in an off-the-shoulder glittery Ralph Lauren column gown at the 2017 Princess Grace Awards Gala on Oct 25.
The royal mother-of-two accompanied her husband, Prince Albert, to the event, which celebrates emerging talent in theatre, dance and film.
The Princess Grace Foundation and awards program were set up by the late actress's husband Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1982. The royal created the organization to honour his wife's legacy and her love for the arts. To date, the foundation has presented awards to more than 800 recipients.

Jessica Simpson and her look-alike daughter Maxwell enjoyed a royal day out on Tuesday (Oct. 24) at the kick off to this year’s Princess Grace of Monaco Awards celebration in Los Angeles. The singer’s gorgeous little girl even got to give host Princess Charlene of Monaco a bouquet of flowers!
Charlene’s husband Prince Albert has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Princess Grace Foundation continues to financially help aspiring talent in theatre, dance and film, as it has done since its inception in 1982 following Grace's untimely death. This year’s gala will take place on Oct 25 in Beverly Hills.

Prince Harry never forgets a familiar face! The royal visited Lancashire on Monday (Oct. 23) where he reunited with local resident Winnie Hodson. The 93-year-old turned out to see the royal after meeting him in February 2016 when Harry toured the region following devastating floods.

The Queen looked elegant in a matching pink outfit at the races on Saturday (Oct. 21). The monarch attended The Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot and opted for a light pink coat and hat with flower detailing, complemented by pearl jewelry and a pretty brooch. Her Majesty was all smiles as she presented jockey Frankie Dettori with the winner's prize for the Queen Elizabeth ll Stakes at the event. Frankie said: "I had a nice chat with Her Majesty, it was a good day all round."

Queen Letizia slipped into a glamorous Felipe Varela dress to attend the Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony in Oviedo, Spain. The 45-year-old completed her look with black pumps and a matching handbag.

Kensington Palace announced on Tuesday (Oct. 17) that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will welcome their third child in April. The news comes just hours after the palace revealed that the couple will travel to Sweden and Norway in early 2018.

A portrait of his grandmother Queen Elizabeth in the background, Prince Harry attended his first engagement back home in London after his high profile appearance at the Invictus Games in Toronto last month. The British royal – who made his public debut with American girlfriend Meghan Markle of TV drama Suits during the week-long Paralympics-style sports competition – spoke at an event on mental health at the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on October 9.

With pregnant wife the Duchess of Cambridge taking a break from engagements as she suffers from severe morning sickness, Prince William made a solo appearance at the Data Observatory at Imperial College on October 6. The Duke attended a briefing on the progress of the 'Heads Together' campaign, spearheaded by the Cambridges and Prince Harry and its partners.

Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary looked all set to kick off their royal visit to Japan, meeting with Crown Prince Naruhito and Princess Masako in Tokyo. Frederik and Mary are heading up a Danish business delegation with the aim of promoting trade between the two countries.

The wealthiest monarch in the world celebrated 50 years on the throne with a host of lavish celebrations attended by international royals including Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex from the UK.

On day one of his trip to Belfast, Northern Ireland, Prince William was tasked with naming a new lifeboat. The British royal poured a measure of whiskey onto Ray of Hope during the ceremony while visiting the headquarters of the Lagan Search and Rescue service, who patrol the waters of the River Lagan.
