Royal Family watchers have much to be excited about this year, from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding day to welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third baby into the royal fold. While catching a first glimpse of the pair with their newborn bundle of joy outside Lindo Wing this month will be a thrill, some fans also love to place bets on the little one's name - and the current top contender is definitely Mary, with three-to-one odds at Paddy Power Betfair and four-to-one odds at Coral.
Though the sex of their child is still a mystery, many are leaning towards Prince George and Princess Charlotte being big siblings to a sister. A bookmaker at Paddy Power Betfair shared some insight on the odds, “By far the most popular name, in volume and size of stakes, is Mary. We’ve received thousands of bets on that being the choice of name, so much so that we actually had to suspend the betting a few weeks ago,” they told The Independent .
Following swiftly behind the name Mary, monikers like Alice and Victoria are nearly in the lead for bet-makers, while some have guessed that they could even go with a sweet homage to the baby’s great-grandmother by naming her Elizabeth. What will be truly exciting and unpredictable for royal watchers is if their April baby is actually a little boy!
Back before the royal duo welcomed Prince George into their Cambridge clan, gamblers guessed correctly and major bets were placed on his name. This time around, Paddy Power is reporting that male names like Edward and Arthur are in the lead, followed by Fredrick.
An exact due date hasn’t been confirmed as of yet, but there is speculation that she’ll deliver around the end of April - with eight-to-one odds that the baby is born on William and Kate's anniversary! And as for the possibility of twins, that won’t be happening! “Twins? I think my mental health would be tested with twins,” William joked during the Centrepoint Awards at Kensington Palace. “Our third child is due in April, I’m getting as much sleep as I can.”
