Meghan Markle and the Invictus Games have something very important in common: they're both extremely close to Prince Harry's heart. And not only that - it was at the games in Toronto last year that the lovebirds stepped out for the very first time as a couple. So with that and their shared love of public service in mind, it's no surprise that the future husband and wife, who tie the knot on May 19 in Windsor, stepped out together on Friday (Apr. 6) for the UK team trials held at the University of Bath Sports Training Village.
The Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation and his lady love were greeted with cheers as they joined competitors who were trying out the athletics track before meeting with the hopefuls taking part in the indoor sitting volleyball trials, all ahead of the fourth annual Invictus Games. They met some of the 451 hopefuls – wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans – competing for just 72 places in the sporting tournament.
While last year's sporting event was held in Meghan's former home base of Toronto, this year Harry is taking the event Down Under to Sydney, Australia from Oct. 18 to 29. Fans can look forward to a joint appearance from the royal pair in the fall as they watch injured servicemen and women compete in a variety of athletic events at Harry's beloved event.
Last year's games will forever hold a place in Prince Harry and Meghan's hearts. It was at Nathan Phillips Square in downtown Toronto that they stepped out hand-in-hand for the first time to take in a wheelchair tennis match, cementing their status as one of the royal world's most affectionate couples. The couple chatted and giggled throughout the athletic event and stepped out again a few days later along with the former Suits star's mom, Doria Ragland, at the closing ceremonies.
The prince, 33, and his bride-to-be, 36, have made a number of exciting appearances in the walkup to their big day. From their first joint engagements in Nottingham to visits to Cardiff, Birmingham and a surprise day trip to Belfast, the eyes of the world have been on the loved-up couple as Harry introduces the future senior royal to his homeland. And with today's outing in Bath no exception, the couple continues to charm fans at every turn.
