The heavens opened up on Monday (May 7) and blessed the world with a fashion parade truly worthy of the Met Gala, the fashion world's answer to the Oscars. And with so much star power at the annual sartorial extravaganza, you may have missed two beauties who definitely reigned on the red carpet: Princess Beatrice and Charlotte Casiraghi! The two royals stepped out in style for the fun event with very different interpretations of the night's theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & the Catholic Imagination.
Princess Beatrice arrived on the scene in a regally hued purple gown with sheer sleeves and a ruched neckline that featured gold embellishments around the collar. She topped off the look with a beaded gold headband featuring multiple thin bands framing her crown, headdresses being one of the night's biggest trends. The 29-year-old, who is sure to be heading home soon for her cousin Prince Harry's nuptials with Meghan Markle, carried a black clutch and anchored her look with gold strappy sandals.
The New York resident isn't the first in her family to attend the Met Ball. Her late aunt Princess Diana stole the show in a navy Versace slip dress in 1996. And beyond the British Royal Family, last year was host to Queen Rania of Jordan and past years have hosted Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Charlotte Casiraghi, who showed up to the 2016 party in sunny Gucci.
Monaco's Charlotte was back once again at the 2018 affair, posing with a gaggle of stunning models that included Kate Moss and Amber Valletta, plus French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg - all clad in embellished mini dresses by Anthony Vaccarello. The mother of four-year-old Raphaël, who is expecting her second child, was aglow in a glittery asymmetrical silver number with one sleeve, which she paired with platform black leather boots. Her brown locks were pulled back save for a few strands framing her face on one side. The 31-year-old recently postponed her wedding to partner Dimitri Rassam, HOLA! reported, as she is said to be due in August.
