It was impossible to see it coming, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's royal romance. Looking back on the time Hello! Canada chatted with the soon-to-be royal, just the thought of having to pick between the prince or his brother, Prince William, made her laugh.
Back in October 2015, the then-actress made an appearance at a Dove Self-Esteem Workshop, where we asked her to make a big decision: Prince William or Prince Harry? "I don't know," Meghan responded with a giggle. "Harry? Sure." And in only a few month's time, this answer would seal her fate.
Her first encounter with the prince happened just months later, followed by back-to-back dates, a vacation in Botswana and the beautiful beginning of a serious relationship with him. The soon-to-be husband and wife spent over a year traveling to each other's home countries to be together before Meghan finally relocated to London, sparking an engagement speculation that would come true on Nov. 27.
In our exclusive Periscope video, the then-Suits star opened up about her love for cooking and staying in. "I love to cook so yes, stay in your cozies, have some nice wine, make yourself a nice meal – so much better," she exclaimed. And the proof is in the pudding! Meghan adored cooking for Prince Harry while he was secretly visiting her in Toronto, and his proposal even happened over a roast chicken!
Meghan opened up about confidence, the issue of social media bullying and being "kind to yourself," all messages important to the star who was often trolled on social media – something the prince spoke out about on her behalf in his statement in 2016. "If we treated ourselves as well as we treated our best friend, can you imagine? It would be so much better," she remarked passionately.
