Hats off to the groom’s cousins! They’re no strangers to royal events, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie made yet another memorable entrance at Windsor Castle for Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle. Princess Beatrice – who is fresh off of a red carpet appearance at the Met Gala in New York, where she wore a violet gown by Alberta Ferretti – looked elegant in a custom take on Roksanda Ilincic’s ‘Viola’ dress. She complemented her look with Gianvito Rossi shoes and a headdress by milliner Stephen Jones.
Her sister Eugenie stepped out wearing a bespoke, blue dress by new British label Gainsbourg and Valentino shoes with a hat by Fiona Graham of FiGraham Millinery. The world learned of her choice the day before the wedding, when a spokesperson for the brand confirmed she’d be wearing a custom blue look by designers Caroline Breteau (an art director who was formerly on staff at British Vogue) and Sam Dougal, who previously designed for Alexander McQueen, the fashion house behind the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress. “Yes, we can confirm we are dressing Princess Eugenie tomorrow, but I am afraid we can’t give you any more details apart from that,” said a brand spokesperson. Blue is clearly a fashion favourite for the princess, who chose to wear the colour for Pippa Middleton’s 2017 wedding to James Matthews, as well as to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011.
Few could forget the striking entrance Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughters made at William and Kate’s wedding at Westminster Abbey. Both Beatrice, 29, and Eugenie, 28, wore eye-catching Philip Treacy fascinators to see their cousin William marry Kate. Beatrice went on to sell her whimsical accessory at a charity auction, where it was purchased for $130,000 USD in support of UNICEF and her mother’s charity, Children in Crisis.
With another royal wedding well underway, the countdown continues to a special ceremony that hits even closer to home for the Queen’s granddaughters. Eugenie is set to wed her longtime love, Jack Brooksbank this fall. The couple will exchange vows at the same venue as Meghan and Harry, St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, on October 12. Speaking on The One Show about Jack’s proposal in Nicaragua, Eugenie said: "The lake was so beautiful, it was a special light and I even said, 'This is an incredible moment,' and then he popped the question, which was really surprising even though we had been together seven years. It was the perfect moment because we knew it was going to end up this way." The bride-to-be said she was “over the moon.”
