What Princess Eugenie and Jack can learn from Prince Harry and Meghan's royal wedding

It’s officially the year of the royal wedding. As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle look forward to life as newlyweds, select guests in attendance at Windsor Castle already have another wedding ceremony to look forward to. The Queen’s granddaughter, Princess Eugenie, will say, “I do” to her longtime love Jack Brooksbank this fall. He proposed to Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s younger daughter while travelling with her in Nicaragua. The couple will tie the knot on Oct. 12 at St. George’s Chapel, the same venue where the bride-to-be’s cousin, Harry, exchanged vows with Meghan. With that in mind, we’ve rounded up what Eugenie and her future husband can learn from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's big day.

MAKE IT PERSONAL
The newly-minted Duke and Duchess of Sussex made sure to incorporate plenty of elements into their wedding day that were representative of their personalities and their relationship. The couple’s wedding cake – a lemon and elderflower sponge cake by baker Claire Ptak and her team – is just one example. It’s decorated with peonies because they’re Meghan’s favourite flower. Similarly, Eugenie and Jack will want to put their mark on their wedding day.

SAVOUR THE MOMENT
While they were surrounded by so many of their loved ones and closest friends, Meghan and Harry made sure to remain in the moment. During the ceremony, the pair could be seen holding hands, sharing affectionate glances and smiling at one another.

INCORPORATE YOUR SENSE OF STYLE
Make sure your bridal look feels true to your personal style. Meghan looked positively regal in her Givenchy gown designed by Claire Waight Keller, which was sleek and elegant, just like the outfits she’s always chosen. Her pared-down hair and makeup were also in keeping with the natural beauty looks royal watchers have come to expect from the gorgeous duchess.

GO WITH THE FLOW
There’s no way to guarantee that everything will go according to plan. When things change, don’t get caught up in the details. When it was unclear whether Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, would participate in the wedding, Meghan knew she could lean on her future husband and her mother, Doria Ragland, for support. Ultimately, health issues prevented Thomas from making the trip to the U.K., and the Prince of Wales accompanied Meghan part of the way down the aisle.

GIVE BACK
Meghan and Harry requested that their guests make donations to select charities instead of buying the couple gifts. The organizations they selected included CHIVA (Children’s HIV Association), StreetGames and The Wilderness Foundation UK. A statement from the Palace announcing Meghan and Harry’s choice said: “Many of these are small charities, and the couple are pleased to be able to amplify and shine a light on their work." Princess Eugenie will likely keep philanthropy in mind, as she’s also dedicated to several causes. Together with her mother, Sarah Ferguson, she’s patron of the Elephant Family, and she also works with the Teenage Cancer Trust slongside her sister, Princess Beatrice.

HAVE A LAUGH
Prince Harry’s wedding day wasn’t without its light-hearted moments. During the ceremony, the couple had a chuckle when crowds of well-wishers could be heard erupting in cheers after the bride and groom professed their willingness to marry. There was also an adorable moment when the groom struggled to lift his bride's veil, and a few chuckles during Bishop Michael Curry's spirited sermon.
