Queen Letizia and King Felipe of Spain traveled across the pond to visit New Orleans and San Antonio, two cities that celebrate the three hundred years of their respective foundations this year and that hold important historical testimony of the deep and close ties that unite Spain and the United States. Day 6
King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain capped off their whirlwind trip the United States with a visit to Washington, D.C. to meet President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

Day 5
For their second day in San Antonio, Texas, Queen Letizia and King Felipe made a stop to the San Antonio Museum of Art (SAMA) to admire the Masterpieces of Spanish Painting from Madrid Collections.

Day 4
Welcome to Texas! On June 17, Felipe and Letizia received quite the welcome from the city of San Antonio at the Governor's Palace. Mayor of San Antonio Ron Nirenberg presented the couple with the first edition of the Key of the San Antonio Missions. The royals were in town to help celebrate its 300th anniversary and also commemorate its Spanish roots. The plaque seen here honours their visit and the big anniversary.

Day 1

Day 2

As part of the city's Tricentennial celebration at Gallier Hall, the Queen and King were presented with the key of the city from the mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell.

The royals were also honoured with a plaque. His Majesty said, “Examining this era highlights just how far back Spain's mark on the United States reaches, and how deep its roots are, as reflected in the close bonds of friendship between our two nations. And it is our hope that, through this visit, these bonds will become even stronger. Because there are solid reasons for them to grow stronger.”

Quick change! The King and Queen made for a picture-perfect duo as they waved to a crowd of well-wishers on Friday, June 15 in coordinating ensembles. The royals embarked on an evening adventure with Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell. The royals were given a tour of the Cabildo, which was the seat of Spanish colonial city hall, and is now a museum in Jackson Square. They browsed the Recovered memories: Spain, New Orleans and the support for the American Revolution exhibition.
