Some people believe a picture says a thousand words – but for Meghan Markle, it’s an emoji or two! Though her royal wedding to Prince Harry happened over a month ago, little tidbits of the big day – and of Meghan’s future as the Duchess of Sussex – are still coming out of the woodwork. One such nugget pertains to how she revealed her engagement to her makeup artist, Daniel Martin!
Daniel was happy to share some insight into Meghan’s morning just hours before she entered the royal fold, not to mention the exciting moment when she booked him to do her wedding day makeup. On Tuesday (July 3), the artist revealed to Good Morning America , just how his old friend asked him to be part of her glam squad that day. “She [texted and] was like, ‘Hey – what are you doing May 19 th?’ And then she sent me two emojis of the bride and groom. I was like, ‘OK, yeah, whatever you need,’” he shared.
While many brides are sick with nerves before saying “I do” to their future spouses, Daniel says Meghan seemed calm as ever. “We had breakfast. Guy, her dog, was with us. We were playing around with him. It was a very chill morning,” he revealed. “Her mom [Doria Ragland] was there, which was amazing.”
The makeup look for her big day was perfect, keeping in line with the 36-year-old’s preference for an understated glow, especially during her nuptials. Rocking a slightly longer lash, the new royal kept her lips a natural pink, little to no bronzer and a subtle highlight that caught the sun effortlessly. Of course, her beautiful freckles shined through – one of the features that Meghan most adores about herself.
Daniel explained on the show that the goal was to make her look like she was glowing from the inside out. “When [Harry] takes the veil off, and sees her, that’s the moment I think a bride wants – when she has that moment with her future husband,” he gushed. “It wasn’t about a trendy makeup. It wasn’t about a lot of eye, or a lot of lip. It was about her, and her being confident.”
