The Duchess of Sussex has seemingly settled into royal life with ease, striking up quick bonds with her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate, and the Queenjust months after saying “I do” to Prince Harry. And while she’s enjoyed touring around her new home with the duke, they have yet to visit Meghan’s home country together. But all that may change if they go on tour in the US in 2019!
On the heels of their first official overseas trip to Ireland , where they visited Croke Park and Meghan’s adorable moment with little Walter Cullen stole the show, the duo is already planning their next travels. Following their trip Down Under for the Invictus Games in Sydney and stops in New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, the gorgeous couple is potentially gearing up for a tour of the United States, a source revealed to Us Weekly. “They are so excited to head to the U.S.,” they shared. “Meghan is looking forward to introducing Harry to everything she loves about the U.S.”
While the former actress hails from Los Angeles, there are many parts of the country that she holds close to her heart. Though no official itinerary has been released as of yet, the source said that “they are thinking New York, Washington, D.C., and California. They’re working to finalize locations and venues.” Naturally, their visit won’t be all fun and games – they have some serious business to attend to, as well. “Meghan and Harry want to solidify ties between the U.K. and the U.S. They want to highlight and foster these relationships.” The insider added that the two will meet with CEOs and female tech entrepreneurs while in San Francisco to encourage their involvement in the high-tech industry.
The two also hope to stop at Chicago’s Obama Foundation, and the insider adds that Barack and Michelle Obama have always been “supporters” of them. And why stop there? Given Meghan’s close relationship to Canada, perhaps they’ll pay a visit across the border, too. “The Canadian Foreign Office has heard about the tour and would love to have them stop there. This may very well become a North American tour!”
This is exciting news for Canuck fans, who relished seeing Prince Harry and Meghan confirm their courtship on Canadian soil with their first official outing to the Invictus Games in Toronto. And hopefully royal watchers will have even more to look forward to following the tour! “She’ll go to New York, then L.A.,” the source reveals, adding: “Expect to hear the pitter-patter of a little prince or princess in 2019.”
