One of Meghan Markle's best girlfriends, Priyanka Chopra, is reportedly gearing up to say "I do" to Nick Jonas. The Quantico star and the former Suits star have been friends for years and Priyanka was on hand when Meghan and Prince Harry tied the knot in Windsor on May 19 - but will the royal couple be able to return the favour?
No official rules prohibit royals from attending weddings, even high-profile affairs like the one Priyanka and her fiancé are sure to have. With their busy royal schedules - tours, charity events, holidays and more - what it all comes down to is availability. When Meghan's close pal Serena Williams got married in November 2017, Prince Harry and his then-girlfriend were forced to skip the festivities as she was wrapping Suits in Toronto and he was hosting a charitable dinner in London.
However, when one of Prince Harry's closest friends, Tom "Skippy" Inskip, tied the knot in Jamaica last April, the couple posted up in a villa at the luxe Round Hill Hotel and made a vacation out of it. According to Katie Nicholl's HARRY: Life, Loss and Love, the prince was on his best behaviour but the couple still had loads of fun. "At one point [Harry] was dancing so enthusiastically to a Michael Jackson song with Meghan that he accidentally crashed into a waiter and sent a tray of drinks flying," she wrote. "At the end of the night there was a slow dance, and after Harry escorted Meghan onto the dance floor for a final twirl, the couple politely excused themselves just after 1 a.m."
And one month after their show-stopping nuptials at St George's Chapel, Meghan and Harry were out toasting another couple: Princess Diana's niece Celia McCorquodale and George Woodhouse. Meghan looked stunning in a printed Oscar de la Renta dress and one of her first fascinators, and the couple seemed in high spirits.
So there's no saying they couldn't do the same if given the opportunity to watch Priyanka and Nick tie the knot! The actress and her former Jonas Brother love got engaged on her 36th birthday last week, a source told People, after Nick shut down a Tiffany's store in New York to find the perfect ring. The couple has had a whirlwind two-month romance and "are so happy." We're sure what would make the bride-to-be even happier is having one of her best friends on hand to see her say "I do"!
Priyanka and Meghan, both 36, have been friends since meeting at a dinner in 2016. Throughout the years they have praised and supported one another, and this was especially true on Meghan's wedding day, when the actress posted the sweetest Instagram tribute to the bride alongside a photo of the duke and duchess outside the chapel.
"Every once in a while there is a moment when time stands still...that happened today," Priyanka wrote. "You my friend were the epitome of grace, love, and beauty. Every choice made at this wedding by you both will go down in history, not just because it was your wedding, but because this incredible wedding stood for change and hope...both things that the world needs desperately. Thank you for being the perfect picture of all things good. Seeing your union and love blessed in front of my eyes made me so happy...and tear up! I wish you both love happiness and togetherness always."
