How Kate has reportedly helped Meghan cope with family drama

By Meaghan Wray

Meghan Markle has had her life turned upside-down since joining the Royal Family, and understandably so! It’s a big leap from Hollywood stardom to international royalty, but the new Duchess of Sussex has taken everything in stride, fitting into her new world with ease and grace. And while she'd been faced with ample family drama since before she said “I do” to Prince Harry in May, the former actress is lucky to have a strong support system that includes her new sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge.

The mother of three has been “a pillar of support” for the 36-year-old, royal expert Katie Nicholl writes for Vanity Fair. Most recently, Meghan's father Thomas Markle told the Mail on Sunday that his daughter has effectively cut him out of her life for good. And while the former Suits star is clearly a very strong and independent woman, having an ally within her new family is likely an invaluable gift. A source said: “Kate’s well aware of what Meghan is going through. Her family has been dragged through the tabloids and she knows it’s not nice. She’s made a big effort to be kind to Meghan and look out for her.”

To the delight of royal watchers, the two duchesses enjoyed a lovely day out together to watch Meghan’s friend Serena Williams play in the Ladies Singles Final at Wimbledon on July 14. A source let fans in on a secret – they don’t just look comfortable together, they are comfortable together. “Kate’s made a real effort to be kind to Meghan and to include her. They’re quite different characters but they get along well,” the source continued. “They speak on the phone and Kate makes a point of inviting Meghan over. I’d say they try to see each other once a week, sometimes with Harry, sometimes Meghan goes on her own … She’s been very sympathetic to what’s been going on with Meghan and her dad.”

Their beautiful, blooming friendship will likely be on display again when the two pairs attend a family friend’s wedding! Charlie van Straubenzee, whose brother is Princess Charlotte’s godfather, is set to wed on Aug. 4 in Surrey, and it’s believed that the ‘Fab Four’ will be making an appearance at his nuptials. It will be a pleasure to watch the two step out in style once again for the private event, as they will also be celebrating Meghan’s 37th birthday that day!
