Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding will feature something green

By Meaghan Wray

Though weddings typically feature something blue, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are making sure their royal wedding this fall is green! Speaking to British Vogue in a rare spread alongside sister Princess Beatrice, the bride-to-be shared (via the Telegraph) that the environment will be at the forefront when she says “I do” at St. George’s Chapel in October. “It’s been eye-opening. My whole house is anti-plastic now, and Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well,” she shared.

Now that’s a message we can get behind! This isn’t a new passion for the 28-year-old, who has worked with an organization called Project Zero, an environmental charity that protects marine life. She took to Instagram earlier this summer to announce that she’d be taking on an ambassador role for the charity, writing: “I’m so excited to have recently become an Ambassador of Project 0 whose aim is to restore and protect the ocean. Today we launched our new partnership with @skyoceanrescue and of course, Plasticus, the whale made of used single use plastic… Together we aim to inspire people to make sustainable choices to stop the ocean from drowning in plastic.”

And while she has this part figured out, planning a wedding can be daunting – even for a royal. “It’s very nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect but then you realise that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters,” she gushed. Their first-meeting story is something of a fairy-tale, having set eyes on each other for the first time while skiing with mutual friends in Verbier, Switzerland. Speaking to The One Show during their engagement announcement in January, Jack said it was “love at first sight.”

Just like Meghan Markleand Prince Harry a few months ago, Eugenie and Jack will be exchanging vows at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. After, the newlyweds and their closest friends and family will enjoy a wonderful reception that will reportedly be held at the York family home, Royal Lodge, where her father, Prince Andrew, currently resides.
