With Pippa Middleton’s first baby with husband James Matthews well on its way, the columnist is likely looking to her sister, mother-of-three the Duchess of Cambridge, for advice and support. And when it comes to finding out her baby's sex, the 34-year-old is taking a page out of her sister's pregnancy handbook by opting to keep it a surprise until she gives birth in October.
Pippa's brother-in-law Spencer Matthews, who is also expecting his first child with wife Vogue Williams this fall, made the revelation during an appearance on the UK's This Morning on Thursday (Aug. 16). When asked if the happy couple has found out the gender, the 29-year-old former reality star revealed “They don’t. They’re extremely private, honestly, we know nothing."
While she has yet to comment on her baby's gender, Pippa has been very candid about her relatively easy pregnancy thus far. Unlike her older sister, who suffered greatly from morning sickness during all three of her pregnancies, the socialite survived her first trimester without facing the common ailment. “I was lucky to pass the 12-week scan without suffering from morning sickness,” the soon-to-be mom wrote in her Waitrose fitness column, adding, “That meant I was able to carry on as normal.” One of the few aspects of her life that changed was her approach to fitness.
The sporty star explained, “When I learned the happy news that I was pregnant I realized I needed to adjust my 4 to 5-day-a-week routine.” She also kept her pregnancy a secret from her trainer until the “riskier months” passed.
News of Pippa’s pregnancy was announced just hours before her sister gave birth to her third child, Prince Louis. This means that the sisters enjoyed 12 weeks of being pregnant together, further strengthening their fiercely close bond. Sharing an affinity for similar maternity wear, the 34-year-old has been spotted donning Seraphine, a brand favoured by the duchess. And given that the brunette siblings live just a short distance apart, we’re sure that Kate will help with nursery decorating and the purchase of some adorable baby clothes.
