Princess Eugenie is set to wed in the fall, marking the second royal wedding of the year following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ’s nuptials in May. All eyes are on the princess as royal watchers eagerly await details about her wedding gown, the A-list guest list and, of course, the adorable little ones who will be joining her on the St. George’s Chapel aisle. And one such potential member of the bridal party, Eugenie’s only goddaughter Maud Windsor, has a particularly special connection to pageboy pro Prince George.
The two royal children go way back, having had one of their first-ever playdates together when they were only two years old. Maud’s mom, Sophie Winkleman, previously opened up to HELLO! about their sweet friendship: “We were invited to tea at Kensington Palace just before Princess Charlotte was born. Maud and George got on very well. He is a very clever, articulate little boy and was speaking long before other toddlers his age.” The two now attend Thomas’s Battersea School, where George had his first day last fall , and are in the same class.
While the palace has yet to confirm any of these details, it would make sense to spot Lord Freddie Windsor and Sophie’s adorable little four-year-old present for her godmother’s special day. Most likely joining her at Windsor Castle will be royal wedding veteran Princess Charlotte , who made the cutest bridesmaid at both Pippa Middleton and the Duchess of Sussex’s weddings. Robbie Williams and Ayda Field’s five-year-old daughter Theodora Rose Williams is also expected to have a spot in the party, along with Ines de Givenchy , the daughter of Olivier de Givenchy , according to The Express. Her brother, Louis de Givenchy, could very well take his place beside Prince George as the two pageboys, The Daily Mail reports.
Though the collection of bridesmaids and pageboys will be melting hearts all over the world on Oct. 12, fewer things are as sweet as Eugenie and Princess Beatrice’s sisterly bond. Gracing the glossy pages of British Vogue’s September issue, the 28-year-old gushed about their relationship and why Beatrice will make the perfect maid of honour. “When we were younger, I always used to make her go into parties first. I’d hide behind her and she’d make the first move, then I’d get louder and louder as she made me more confident. We bring each other back to earth all the time. We’re very lucky.”
