Prince Alexander melts hearts on his first official engagement: All the photos

Prince Alexander of Sweden delighted crowds on Thursday (Aug. 23) as the two-year-old toddled out on his first-ever engagement. Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia's son, the Duke of Södermanland, visited his duchy and its Nynas Nature reserve to open the Prince Alexander Viewpoint. The family rode in a carriage before their little one pulled a ribbon to inaugurate the lookout.

With a little help from mom and dad, Prince Alexander hopped right off the horse-drawn carriage that he arrived in with his parents. His little brother, 11-month-old Prince Gabriel, stayed at home.

Alexander clearly has a big heart for animals! He and his mom stopped to pet one of the carriage horses. Is horseback riding in this prince's future?

Following in the footsteps of his cousins Princess Estelle and Princess Leonore, who also made their official debuts at the same tender age, Prince Alexander had his parents in tow to help ease any nerves.

Nerves didn't get the best of Alexander, but he did have a moment or two of being a wee bit shy. We don't blame him – it's a lot of pressure for a little boy!
