At the end of a royal engagement in the south of Holland, Queen Máximawas confronted by a concerned mother wielding an important letter for the royal. After being intercepted by the queen’s security guards, Máxima, being a mother of three herself, was gracious enough to stop and chat with the woman, clearly distraught by her disabled son’s current situation.
The woman took off towards the 47-year-old after she spoke during a visit to the non-profit YETS Foundation , a charitable organization that uses sports to empower youth. With a letter addressed to Máxima in her hand, the enraged mother demanded to speak with the royal after making previous attempts to send letters to the palace. The colourfully dressed woman shouted: “he’s been home for 11 months,” as the guards held her away from the queen, according to the Daily Mail. After shaking hands with and talking to other fans waiting for her outside the building, the stylish royal approached the woman, kindly taking the note from her hand and stopping to chat with her for a bit before heading off.
Despite the small hiccup, Máxima kept her composure – and looked stylish as ever while doing so. For the special day, the blond royal wore a tailored navy jumpsuit with matching navy pumps. While inside for the event, she kicked off her heels to enjoy a bit of basketball with the youth on the court – at one point, even stretching her leg out in preparation to shoot some hoops!
Queen Máxima has wasted no time getting back into the swing of her royal duties after enjoying summer vacation with her daughters Princess Amalia, 14, Princess Alexia, 13, and Princess Ariane, 11, along with her husband King Willem-Alexander . And it was a well-deserved break after a particularly tough year for the royal woman, who tragically lost her younger sister Inez Zorreguita to suicide in June .
