Meghan's signature is more polished than ever but still shows her 'quick mind'

By Jessica Pollack

Meghan Markle's signature was on display once again when she signed the visitor's book at Edes House in Chichester on Wednesday (Oct. 3). Clad in a polished leather Hugo Boss pencil skirt, an & Other Stories blouse and an Armani coat, the newlywed enjoyed a busy day of engagements with Prince Harry in their namesake county, Sussex. And much like her style, the royal's John Hancock was looking more polished than ever, further demonstrating the protectiveness, quick-mindedness and showmanship that Toronto-based certified graphologist Elaine Charal first recognized when analyzing the evolution of the duchess's signature for FLARE.

Back in March, Meghan jotted a nearly illegible signature in the guest book at the Titanic Belfast maritime museum, surprising given the fact that she'd once been a professional calligrapher. To Elaine, this demonstrated that her life had become a lot more private since coming into the global spotlight, and that she'd become more selective about who she lets into. But our writing is a "paper mirror" of our lives, according to Elaine, so as Meghan's reality changed so too did her signature.

Once she officially became a duchess on May 19, the newlywed had honed her Hancock to a far more elegant end, which was on display at Áras an Uachtaráin during the couple's two-day visit to Dublin in July. The "M" in her autograph may say the most about the 37-year-old. “The initial long stroke before the capital ‘M’ is a form of flair and showmanship,” Elaine revealed, a sign of Meghan settling into her new life and letting her guard down a bit. But at the same time, the "roof-like stroke" over the letter "is a protection of sorts that shields Meghan from others."

Both these elements were on display in Sussex, as was a third that Elaine first spotted in Dublin - one that indicates the power of the former actress's mind. Evident in the needle points at the top of her signature is a “sharp, comprehensive thinking that suggests the duchess can stay three steps ahead of others, and likely communicates best with those who can keep up with her quick mind.”

One thing that's remained a constant? Her Markle sparkle! The speed and fluidity of her signature indicates not only that she can seamlessly navigate difficult topics but also her determination and ability to say the right thing at the right time. It's no wonder she delighted the hordes of fans who had come to see the Sussexes today, from the children who gave them a handmade keepsake to the woman who offered praise for Meghan's mom.
