Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank exchange vows on Oct. 12, marking one of the biggest and most beautiful days of their lives. Making it truly one to remember, the newlyweds enjoyed a carriage procession around the city of Windsor before joining their guests at Windsor Castle for a luncheon hosted by the Queen. And HELLO! can exclusively reveal that the bride’s father, Prince Andrew, showed off his wonderful charm in a moving speech for his daughter that included the most touching moment with his new son-in-law, Jack.
A source at the reception shared that the prince took guests on a whirlwind adventure during his speech, covering a variety of topics that left listeners both laughing and crying: “Prince Andrew gave a great father-of-the-bride speech. There were some great anecdotes from childhood and all the way through to current affairs.”
The source continued: “He also touched upon how the dynamics of their relationship work. The one thing that made me cry was the Duke, when he said he was going to do something he’s never done before; he went over to his new son-in-law and hugged him. He isn’t a very tactile person. There was emotion from both sides of the family, Andrew and Sarah [Ferguson] and Jack’s family.”
Also in attendance was Jack’s former headmaster, Anthony Wallersteiner. The academic gushed to HELLO! over how in love the two are, saying: “Obviously they are in love and would stay in love for the rest of their lives. They’re immensely compatible. For a young man of 32 to be that open, it was quite touching. She is the one light of his life; she makes him complete. He can’t imagine spending a day away from her.”
Anthony also opened up about what it was like watching the wedding – and clearly, he was just as moved by the ceremony as we were! “Everyone was touched. Everyone welled up. Eugenie wasn’t sobbing but there were eyes welling up everywhere. It was sweet, short, modern. Despite all of this, it was one of the most modern and genuine weddings I’ve been to.”
