Meghan Markle has had an undeniable influence on the fashion and beauty world, from her chic minimalist style to her messy buns and penchant for natural makeup looks. So it’s no wonder that two of her fashionable faves have come to receive the highest of praise from Her Majesty. This week, the Queen made beauty icon Charlotte Tilbury a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire while also announcing that next year seminal fashion designer Ralph Lauren will become the first American to join the MBE ranks.
On Tuesday (Nov. 13), the British makeup artist and cosmetic mogul received her MBE at Buckingham Palace. Donning a chic black satin Temperley London dress with red epaulets, black boots and a netted fascinator to match, the redheaded powerhouse shook hands with the Queen and traded pleasantries before being given her honour. “I feel so incredibly honoured and proud to have received my MBE today!” she said on Instagram. “I want to thank my wonderful family, my friends, my dream team, and my inspirational industry peers who have supported me along the way! I always say it takes a team to build a dream, and this is a dream come true for me.”
It’s well known that Meghan counts Charlotte’s products as some of her absolute favourites – one of the duchess’s must-haves is the Matte Revolution lipstick in the dusty rose shade Very Victoria, and she also loves the Wonderglow Primer. Back in May, the royal’s former makeup artist Lydia F. Sellers told the Daily Mail that Meghan loves a “fresh, glowing complexion” and that she used to blend together the primer and her choice of foundation. The 45-year-old businesswoman even has a lipstick from the same line named after Her Majesty called The Queen – and we all know no one loves a bold lip like the monarch!
Next year, designer Ralph Lauren is slated to pick up an MBE of his own MBE – and it’s no secret that the former actress often reaches for his pieces. Most recently, the brunette beauty wore head-to-toe Ralph to cheer on her friend Serena Williams at Wimbledon this summer. Meghan donned a blue-and-white striped blouse and wide-leg white trousers for the occasion. She also stunned in an olive-green Ralph Lauren dress to celebrate Prince Louis’ christening back in April.
