Duchess Meghan ’s roster of A-list friends just keeps on growing! In a recent interview, Mandy Moore revealed some little-known details of her friendship with the now royal, which dates all the way back to 2006 when Meghan was, to Mandy, just a “normal, regular girl.”
The This Is Us star has been in the movie, TV and music business since she was a teen, so it’s no wonder than their paths crossed at some point. While visiting Today on Thursday (Nov. 15), the actress said they first met on the set of Licence to Wed, which was produced by the duchess’s ex-husband, Trevor Engleson. “We spent a lot of time in Jamaica where some of the movie was shot. I think we spent New Year’s with them that year,” Mandy shared. “We spent some time over the summer in the Hamptons with them. It was another life ago for both of us, but she’s wonderful.”
Back when Meghan’s engagement to Prince Harry was first announced in Nov. 2017, the celebrated singer reached out via e-mail to wish her old friend congratulations. “She was very kind and said that she really likes This Is Us,” she gushed. “She watches the show, so that was pretty cool. She’s just a normal, regular girl.” Looks like their critically acclaimed show has more than just industry accolades, but the royal seal of approval, too. We’re willing to bet that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex binge watch the family drama just like the rest of us – with a box of tissues handy!
Meghan and Trevor got married in 2011 – the same year Prince William and Kate said “I do” – after seven years of dating. They separated in 2013, just two years after the Los Angeles native got her big Hollywood break on the hit paralegal show, Suits. A whirlwind three years later was around the time that she first met her prince, eventually leading to her departure from the show, the closing of her social media accounts and blog The Tig, and her romantic royal wedding in May.
