During an appearing on Good Morning Britain, on Wednesday (Nov. 21), the Duchess of York opened up about the experience of attending the first of the year’s royal weddings, and it was heartwarming. “[She would have] loved every moment of it. Really, just be so proud. Even before they got married, Diana would be just literally going, ‘I can’t believe these boys have done so well.’ They are such a credit to her,” she gushed.

The mother of two continued: “I miss her. No one made me laugh better than her. She’s hilarious." In a particularly touching moment, the Duchess of York revealed what she thinks Diana would tell her two daughters-in-law. "She has this enormous compassion, and I honestly think she’d be so proud of the wonderful Meghan – and Catherine, as well – she’d want to embrace them and say, ‘You’re doing well!’”
Sarah and Diana were trailblazers for young royal women. In the days before social media, when the spotlight was firmly on the pair with no guidelines for how to shine, they had to rise and fall by experimentation. The next generation, like Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and Duchesses Kate and Meghan, are now able to better understand how to conduct themselves and learn from past blunders.
“I often say to my girls, I’ve been there, made the mistakes, so they know what not to do, which is really cool actually. All I can say to anyone, if I was talking to myself or my girls, is be who you are.” A great piece of advice for future young royals like Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby, due in the spring!
