It may be the Duchess of Cambridge’s 37th birthday, but her kids are the ones who received the gifts! While Prince William was paying a visit to London’s Air Ambulance Charity on Wednesday (Jan. 9), Kate was busy celebrating at home, likely with her three children – Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 3, and eight-month-old Prince Louis. And despite being away from home for a little bit, the doting dad isn’t coming home empty handed!
After the royal unveiled a beautiful plaque to commemorate the charity’s 30 th anniversary campaign – of which William is a new patron – two adorable kids presented him with some gifts. The first one was a plush helicopter, perfect for William and Kate’s newborn. “That will get on extremely well,” William gushed. “Louis will be chewing that before long!”
Royal watchers are well aware of Prince George’s love of aircrafts, too, and as such the eldest of the three was gifted a plastic helicopter. Though the older gift-giver said it was “for dad,” William knows this special toy wouldn’t go undetected by his son: “Can’t get back without a gift of a helicopter. George will never forgive me!”The children lovingly put together a number of colourful cards, too: “Charlotte’s going to love this. That’s amazing. Thank you so much!”
The little princess, who’s set to turn four on May 2, absolutely loves the arts, so it’s no surprise that she’d love to look at drawings created for her mom. Her favourite colour happens to be pink, Duchess Kate revealed during a visit to Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London in 2017: “She asked me what my favourite colour is,” a six-year-old recalled learning during a walkabout. “I said it was pink and she said that’s Charlotte’s favourite colour, too.”
Though Prince William kept mum about birthday plans for the day, it’s likely that the Cambridges will spend it quietly at home in each other’s company. There’s no doubt that the future King will dote on his wife, too. In addition to gifting her beautiful pieces of jewellery over the years, in 2009 he surprised her with a romantic candle-lit dinner at a remote log cabin on the Queen’s Balmoral estate in Scotland. How sweet!
