The Duchess of Cambridge is more than used to bumping into some of her biggest fans – and the 2019 BAFTAs on Sunday (Feb. 10) was no different! While arriving at the starry event with her husband, Prince William, she was enthusiastically greeted by two well-wishers... And she looked quite surprised!
While the royal couple were walking the red carpet, Karen Anvil of Norfolk and her daughter, Rachel, caught a snap of a sweet moment. Speaking to HELLO!, Karen explained: "My daughter took this one! Rachel said to the Duchess that she looked beautiful – this was her reaction! We got very lucky with our iPhones, didn't we? We are so happy as she is our favourite." The photo that Karen uploaded on Twitter showed the Duchess in complete shock, but smiling widely.
Royal watchers can always count on the 37-year-old to bring her megawatt smile to any affair! And if it wasn't her bright grin that caught the attention of royal watchers, it was certainly her ensemble – she was an absolute vision in white Alexander McQueen, boasting ruffled detailing and floral appliqué.
Prince William and Kate were guests of honour at the star-studded event, which is the British equivalent of the Oscars. The brunette beauty accessorized the stunning dress with diamond and pearl earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana.
Meanwhile, 36-year-old William opted for a simple black tuxedo with a white pocket square. William, who is the president of BAFTA, presented the Fellowship award tonight to film editor Thelma Schoonmaker. The award is the highest accolade bestowed by the Academy to an individual in recognition of an outstanding and exceptional contribution to film, games or television.
