Princess Diana’s former bodyguard is opening up about a hilarious moment involving the late Princess of Wales, Prince William and Prince Harry. Ken Wharfe worked for the royal family in the late 1980s, and detailed the amusing anecdote in a new documentary called Meghan and Harry: A Royal Baby Story.
“Diana said to me, ‘I don’t envy you, Ken, looking after my two children, because they can be a ruddy nuisance,’” Ken said in the film, according to the Mirror. Understandably, the boys didn’t take that too well!
“William turned around and said to his mother, you know, aged five, ‘We’re not a bloody nuisance, are we, Harry?’” Ken continued. “And [Harry] turned around at that point and said, ‘no,’ fell off this table, followed by this vase of lilies that smashed to pieces on the floor.”
Oh, dear, this must have been annoying for Diana, but we can’t help but giggle! Harry has always attracted attention as a royal joker of sorts, and has been pictured sticking his tongue out from an early age. Ken went on to say that’s continued into Harry’s adulthood. “He was always the joker in the pack,” he continued, according to the Mirror. “What we see today is a style that I recall 30 odd years ago.”
Harry is set to become a dad very soon, as Duchess Meghan’s due to give birth to Baby Sussex any day now. The royal couple continue to settle into their new home of Frogmore House and await the tot’s arrival, which they announced last week they’ll do privately.
