The real reason Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner got married in Las Vegas

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas surprised fans when video footage (courtesy Diplo) surfaced of them exchanging vows in Las Vegas on Tuesday evening (May 1). The duo made their romance official with the help of an Elvis impersonator, and also married on Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s wedding anniversary. But the ceremony left fans questioning if they’ll still have a big bash to celebrate.

A source told People there’s an important reason behind their whirlwind Sin City wedding. “They had to get married in the States to make it legal, but the wedding is still in Europe,” the source told the glossy, and also said the couple will have a bigger fête in France later.

The couple’s nuptials closely followed the Billboard Music Awards, which the Jonas Brothers and Sophie all attended together. Sophie, 23, and Joe, 29, whipped over to Chapel L’Amour for the wedding. Khalid was also watching from one of the pews, and Dan + Shay sang their song “Speechless” for the actress’s walk down the aisle (she wore a chic white satin jumpsuit, no less!).

The Game of Thrones star was first linked to the musician back in November 2016, when Joe direct messaged her on Instagram at the suggestion of a mutual friend, People reported. The gorgeous couple doesn’t have a set wedding date yet, but the DNCE frontman told The Late Late Show they plan to have a summer wedding.
