Royal baby Archie Harrison’s place of birth has just been revealed

By Zach Harper

One of the biggest questions about Archie Harrison has been answered! People had wondered where Duchess Meghan gave birth to her son since she went into labour on May 6, and now we finally know!

Archie’s official birth certificate was released on Friday (May 17) when Meghan and Prince Harry formally registered his birth. It says the Duchess of Sussex delivered Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor at the Portland Hospital for Women and Children in London.

Meghan’s occupation is listed as “Princess of the United Kingdom” on the document, which is the same way Duchess Kate was referred to when Prince Louis was born last year.

If you’re keeping track, this isn’t the first time a royal has given birth at the Portland Hospital. Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, had her daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie there. Samuel and Arthur Chatto and Charles Armstrong-Jones, Viscount Linley and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones, who are all Princess Margaret’s grandchildren, were also born there. Alexandre Casiraghi, the grandson of Caroline, Princess of Hanover, also entered the world there.

The hospital has also been the site of the births of several celebrity babies. Brooklyn and Romeo Beckham, David and Victoria Beckham’s sons, were born there in 1999 and 2002, respectively. It’s also been the choice birthplace for the children of British rock royalty: Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall ’s daughter Georgia May was also born there, as were Rod Stewart’s two children and Sting’s daughter.

In April, Harry and Meghan said they were keeping Archie’s birth plans private. This sparked plenty of rumours that Meghan wanted to have a home birth at Frogmore Cottage. When Harry and Meghan announced their son had been born, they stuck to their private plan and did not announce where it had taken place.
