Prince Louis will make his first Trooping the Colour appearance this year

Prince Louis will join his family on the Buckingham Palace balcony for an adorable Trooping the Colour debut this year! The sweet one-year-old will help ring in his great-grandma’s official birthday on Saturday (June 8) and is likely to be side-by-side with his big siblings – Prince George, 5, and Princess Charlotte, 4.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child turned one on April 23, just about a week before Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison, who most likely won’t be at the ceremony given his age. Royal watchers are certainly hoping to catch Louis waving to his well-wishers, andGeorge and Charlotte will certainly show him the royal ropes!

Louis is following in George and Charlotte’s footsteps. His siblings made their Trooping the Colour debuts at ages one and two, respectively. The eldest of the Cambridge clan was only 10 months old when the annual event came along for the first time in his life, so it’s likely they chose to wait a year for him to be a bit older. After all, the fly over might be a bit too exciting for such a little one.

The Queen’s official birthday celebration is one of the most highly anticipated royal events of the year, given the incredible fashion often put on display by the royal women (such as Kate and Meghan!) and the appearances by the monarchy’s youngest members. Last year was particularly sweet when George’s cousin Savannah Phillips hilariously put her hand over his mouth in a moment that quickly went viral.

On top of seeing one of the world’s favourite families together, it’s also likely to be the first time the Duchess of Sussex will be spotted since debuting baby Archie at Windsor Castle on May 8 with husband Prince Harry.

Last year’s event was Meghan’s first with the family. She dazzled in a pink Carolina Herrera two-piece off-the-shoulder dress, paired with a hat of the same colour by Philip Treacy. She accessorized with a white-and-gold Carolina Herrera clutch, her Plaisirs de Birks opal-and-gold earrings and the Birks “Iconic” stackable diamond rings.
