Here’s why Prince Harry and Meghan stood far away from Prince William and Kate at Trooping the Colour

All eyes were on the Royal Family as they took their spots on the Buckingham Palace balcony for Trooping the Colour over the weekend. While the Cambridge kids certainly stole the show (it was Prince Louis's balcony debut!), eagle eyed royal watchers noticed how far Prince Harry and Meghan were standing from Prince William and Kate – and there’s a reason.

Aside from wanting Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Louis to be the focus of the occasion, it had to do with hierarchy, according to a source who spoke to People.

“[Duchess Meghan] was not as prominent perhaps as some people might have expected, but there’s a pecking order,” the source said. “There was no slight intended, but William being the older, more senior brother would go out [first] with his wife.”

Nonetheless, royal fans were delighted to see the new mom officially out with her husband following the debut of their baby boy, Archie Harrison. She dazzled in a navy blue bespoke Givenchy dress, paired with a Noelle Stewart fascinator to match. She accessorized with a quilted peacock blue clutch by Givenchy, and wore emerald cut stud earrings and a brand new eternity ring, rumoured to be a “push present” from Prince Harry.

Duchess Kate, on the other hand, went with her go-to designer, Alexander McQueen. She brought some sunshine with the pastel yellow number, pairing it with a wide-brimmed hat by Philip Treacy. Her one-year-old son, Louis, definitely stole the show with his adorable royal waves and reactions to the military fly past overhead.
