Kate is known for her big heart and love for children, so it’s no surprise she noticed one young girl was feeling a bit shy at the event. The mom of three took Khareesha James, 8, aside for a private chat in a tent, and shared it’s where she goes when she’s feeling shy.
“I am shy and she said that’s where she goes when she’s shy – in a tent,” the sweet little girl revealed to HELLO! UK.
Her mom also chimed in, and said her daughter “is very shy – she doesn’t talk much to people – and [Kate] took her over to speak to her. She was really nice with her.”
Khareesha presented Kate a potted succulent as a thank-you gift.
Duchess Kate had children from the Anna Freud Centre, Evelina Children’s Hospital, Action for Children and Place2Be join her for a fun treasure hunt and a bug spotting exercise before opening the garden to the public the following day.
The royal also had the chance to meet Millie Allingham, 8, and her mom Nicky, who recently donated a kidney to her daughter.
“I asked her what [George and Charlotte] like in the garden and she said the waterfall,” Millie shared with HELLO! UK. “[Kate] liked the waterfall and I liked it, too. It was shimmering in the glowing light.”
Aside from her best accessory being her big heart and smile, Kate looked ready for summer in a green printed dress by Sandro. She anchored the look with her go-to Castañer wedges, keeping her makeup look simple and rocking noticeably sun-kissed locks.
