Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan share gorgeous photos from Archie Harrison’s christening

By Zach Harper

Archie Harrison was christened in a beautiful, private ceremony in the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle on July 6 – and we also got a good look at the two-month-old baby boy thanks to new photos Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry released to celebrate the occasion!

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to share the happiness of this day, and would like to thank everyone around the world for their ongoing support,” Royal Communications said in a statement when releasing the photos. “They feel so fortunate to have enjoyed this special moment with family and Archie’s godparents.”

The first shows the Sussexes and their family of three sitting in the Green Drawing Room at the castle. They’re joined by Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla, Prince William and Duchess Kate and Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother.

The second, an artsy black-and-white shot, clearly shows the little boy’s face and features mom Meghan holding him while looking lovingly at new dad Harry, who is himself looking at their first child. The image was taken in the Rose Garden on the Castle grounds.

Both photos were taken by Chris Allerton, who was also responsible for behind-the-scenes shots of Meghan and Harry’s 2018 wedding at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. He was also behind the camera for Archie’s first photo with the Queen, Prince Philip and his grandma Doria, which was taken on May 8. That was the day his proud parents debuted him at St. George’s Hall at Windsor Castle, two days after he was born.

Fewer than 25 people were on hand for Archie’s big moment. In addition to those mentioned above, we understand Archie’s godparents were also in attendance. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously said they would keep the godparents’ names private. Unfortunately, the Queen was unable to attend due to a prior commitment. This isn’t new, since a similar engagement kept her from being on hand for Prince Louis’s christening last year.

Archie looked peaceful and was dressed in the replica Honiton gown his cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotteand Prince Louis have all worn to their own christenings in 2013, 2015 and 2018, respectively. The original gown was created during Queen Victoria’s reign in 1841, but after 62 royal babies wore it over the years, it could no longer be used, so the current Queen commissioned a replica in 2004.
