The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have wished Prince George a happy sixth birthday in a very public way – on social media!

“Happy Birthday! Wishing you a very special day and lots of love,” was the sweet message Prince Harry and Meghan posted in the comments section of Kensington Royal’s Instagram tribute to the future King. The new parents added a birthday cake and balloon emoji alongside the message.

To mark the royal’s big day, Prince William and Kate released three new shots of the tot. Two of the images were taken in the garden of their home at Kensington Palace, and show the prince wearing an England soccer jersey. Another was taken on holiday with the family. George and the Cambridges are currently enjoying a two-week break on the Caribbean island of Mustique. Each shot was taken by Duchess Kate.

This isn’t the first time the Sussexes have taken to social media to publicly wish their family members a happy birthday. When Prince William turned 37 in June, Harry and Meghan wrote “Happy Birthday to the Duke of Cambridge” on a post celebrating the future King. In May and April, they celebrated Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ’s birthdays in a similar fashion to George: with “lots of love” and emojis.

This is the second birthday in a row George has spent on Mustique. The private Caribbean island has become William and Kate’s favourite holiday destination because of the privacy it allows their family.

The area has a no-fly zone, meaning George will be able to enjoy a quiet birthday full of swimming, snorkelling and other fun pastimes without having to worry about photographers. On previous trips, William and Kate have played tennis, gone snorkelling and scuba diving and enjoyed cocktails at the five-star Cotton House resort.
