Happy International Left-Handers Day! Did you know these royals and stars are left-handed?

By Zach Harper
Are you left-handed? This writer isn’t, but he does bat left in baseball and shoot left while playing hockey, so perhaps that qualifies him. At any rate, lefties and southpaws have had huge influence throughout history – and it shouldn’t surprise you that many members of the Royal Family past and present are or were, too, as are plenty of celebrities!

George VI
The Queen's father was said to have been naturally left-handed. Although he wrote with his right hand, he was frequently seen playing tennis with his racquet in his left hand, like in this photo of him competing at Wimbledon in 1926.

Prince William
The Prince William may have inherited his left-handedness from George VI, but there are also plenty of lefties in his late mother Princess Diana's family, including her father, John Spencer.

Prince George
The heir to the throne has frequently been seen using his left hand in public, such as in 2017 at polo and just this past July at polo as well. Last year, Express reported that George was often seen waving with his left hand because... he is a southpaw.

Queen Victoria
It's highly likely Prince William, Prince George and King George VI inherited the trait from Queen Victoria! Although she was seen writing with her right hand, the queen was often seen painting with her left, suggesting she may have been encouraged to write with the right instead. This wasn't unusual at the time.

Justin Bieber
Of his left-handedness, Justin Bieber once told Nightline, “Basically, when I started playing guitar, I picked up a right-handed guitar. ‘Cause that was all… my mom had a right-handed guitar in the house.
“And I picked it up and I picked it up left-handed. My mom would switch it the other way. And I would switch it right back to the other way and try to play.
“It was difficult because it’s backwards. My mom, I think it was for my birthday, she bought me a left-handed guitar. And so ever since I was young I learned on a left-handed guitar.”
