Duchess Meghanrecently turned 38, and she and her family of three reportedly celebrated with a quick getaway to the Spanish island of Ibiza.
Spanish and UK media outlets are reporting Meghan and Prince Harry took three-month-old Archie Harrison with them for the five-day trip. Vanity Fair reports the trio left the UK on Aug. 6, two days after Meghan’s birthday, and returned home on Aug. 12.
The family are said to have “stayed at a villa well away from the cameras” and “travelled with security personnel,” according to The Sun. They also reportedly hired five “local escorts who know the… area,”Vanity Fair says. The trip is said to have taken place after a quiet celebration at Frogmore Cottage, Meghan and Harry’s home in Windsor.
This wouldn’t be unusual for Meghan, since she loves Ibiza and has travelled there before. The former actress visited the island in 2016 with friends including fashion designer Misha Nonoo, just before she met Harry. The prince has been to one of the Balearic islands, too. Harry travelled to Mallorca in 1986 with his mother, the late Princess Diana, and brother Prince William. The three stayed as guests of the Spanish royal family at the time.
This also wouldn’t make Meghan and Harry the only royals to take a trip this summer. Duchess Kate, William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis jetted off to the private Caribbean island of Mustique last month to celebrate George’s sixth birthday. While there, they stayed in a gorgeous four-bedroom villa with an infinity pool.
It’s expected both the Sussexes and the Cambridges will travel to Balmoral later this month to spend time with the Queen, but it’s not known when the families will make that journey.
