“You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home,” he wrote alongside black and white engagement photos of the pair. “Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever. ”
The newly-engaged couple are longtime friends, and have been spotted together in public at several events since beginning their relationship about a year ago. They attended Beatrice’s close pal Misha Nonoo’s romantic and lavish wedding in Rome together in mid-September.
“We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement,” Beatrice and Edoardo said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace. “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”
As for a wedding date, the Palace says it will take place in 2020 and more details will be announced “in due course.”
Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie also expressed her joy over the news on Instagram.
“Beabea – wow!” the 29-year-old royal wrote. “I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. by me!!”
As did Sarah, who released a series of gorgeous engagement photos announcing her daughter’s happy news on Twitter. Eugenie was responsible for the two colour images taken of the couple, which Sarah said happened since her daughters “are so close.”
