Monaco’s royal twins turned five earlier this week, and they celebrated by inviting their classmates to the palace for a party!
The bash, hosted by their parents Prince Albert and Princess Charlene, was Smurfs-themed and held on Dec. 11. It featured a bouncy castle outside, and inside the Palace, huge models of favourite Smurfs characters, including Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Gargamel and the cat Azrael were set up in a Smurfs village of sorts. The Palace staff were responsible for its design and the whole spectacle, and it really was impressive! Gabriella and Jacques welcomed their friends with a variety of activities, including balloon animal-making, face painting and cookie making. It looked like lots of fun!
Jacques wore a button-down shirt for the event, while Gabriella was dressed in a blue dress and cream turtleneck, white tights and Mary Jane flat shoes. If you’re wondering, the twins did have their faces painted. Jacques went with Pikachu from Pokémon, and Gabriella had herself turned into a unicorn.
Last year, Albert and Charlene also opened the palace to their kids’ friends for a Marvel superhero-themed bash.
This isn’t the only event the Palace is hosting this month. Monaco citizens are also likely looking forward to the Christmas party, which was started by Princess Grace. The annual tradition involves several hundred kids being invited to the Palace, where they meet the royal family and receive a special gift, along with some of the Monaco royal family’s famous hot chocolate!
When Jacques and Gabriella turned five on Dec. 10, Charlene helped them celebrate by posting a sweet video of the youngsters on her Instagram. In it, they can be heard saying hello to their grandma – likely Charlene’s mother Lynette Humberstone Wittstock.
“Grandma, it’s my birthday!” they both sweetly say, followed by “I miss you, I love you!”
It was a lovely moment for fans of the Monegasque royal family, since it was the first time the little twins’ voices had ever been heard on video!
