Duchess Kate looks festive in a tartan dress at the Queen’s Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace
By Heather Cichowski
Let the Christmas celebrations begin! The Queen hosted her annual lunch at Buckingham Palace for her family members on Dec. 18. The Cambridges were photographed waving to the crowds and dressed in their festive best as they arrived. Duchess Kate was in top form in a beautiful plaid dress, thought to be by Emilia Wickstead.

Kate, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte arrived separately from Prince William and Prince George. The duchess looked in high spirits and must be thrilled to be beginning the holiday break!
Her hair was styled in her signature voluminous layers and she accessorized with dazzling pearly studs and her usual rings. In pictures of the family’s arrival at the palace, the top of her dress is just visible. The festive red, white and black tartan style features a contrasting white collar.

It is thought to be the Emilia Wickstead Anni tartan pleated chiffon-crepe midi dress, which is still available to buy. Here’s hoping we get a better look at it because it looks gorgeous from what we can see!

Charlotte and Louis were also dressed for the season with the princess in a red dress and the one-year-old prince in a patterned sweater.

The Queen’s Christmas lunch is an annual tradition that takes place before the Royal Family leaves for Sandringham to celebrate Christmas. Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan and Archie did not attend because they are still on their extended break. The Sussexes will also not attend Christmas at Sandringham this year. Their plans are to spend the holiday with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. It’s not known whether they’ll do so in the United States or at home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
We’ve seen Kate dazzling in her holiday finest several times this month! She looked jolly in a red puffer jacket on a surprise royal visit on Dec. 4 to Peterley Manor Farm’s "Elves’ Enchanted Forest" in Buckinghamshire.
While filming the A Berry Royal Christmas TV special with Mary Berry and William, Kate shone with Christmas spirit in a polka-dot red dress by Alessandra Rich with pearl earrings borrowed from Her Majesty.
She also wowed royal watchers by donning a green Emilia Wickstead dress at the NATO leaders’ reception at Buckingham Palace earlier this month.
