It’s the holiday season and royal fans are eagerly anticipating the release of all the 2019 royal Christmas cards. The Spanish royals have shared their new Christmas card and Queen Rania of Jordan posted a family portrait to mark the New Year. But none of the British royals have officially released their Christmas cards yet. And there are rumours that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s card will break from tradition by featuring non-royals!
E! News reports the Sussexes’s 2019 Christmas card could feature a “selection of family photographs,” including images with son Archie Harrison. Some of the photos may also include Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.
“Harry and Meghan are said to want [to] ensure that some of their Christmas card images reflect that Doria is very much part of their family and of Archie's upbringing,” said the source.
As for when Harry and Meghan’s Christmas card will be released, the source stated that the card is expected to come out some time this week. But, the Palace is not commenting on the card's release date. Mirror Online asked Kensington Palace if the holiday card would be made public and about the release. A spokeswoman responded, “We haven’t finalized plans yet.”
In 2018, both the Sussexes and Cambridges’s Christmas cards were shared publicly at this point. On Dec. 14, 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan unveiled their Christmas card which featured an elegant never-been-scene photo from their wedding. This year, royal fans are hoping that Archie will be included in the card!
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s 2018 Christmas card was released at the same time. The adorable holiday greeting featured a family portrait of all their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The beautiful photo was taken by Matt Porteous at Anmer Hall.
Harry and Meghan are still on their extended break so they will be skipping some of the traditional royal celebrations, including the Queen’s Christmas lunch. The Sussexes will also not attend Christmas at Sandringham this year, either. They plan to spend the holiday with Doria. It’s not known whether they’ll do so in the United States or at home at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
