’Tis the time of year when royal fans are treated to holiday cards from the royal families around the world. We’ve already seen festive messages from the Spanish royals and the official Christmas card from Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla! On Dec. 22, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden shared a sweet holiday message on Instagram.
The jolly photo features the couple posing with their adorable children Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel in front of a gleaming Christmas tree. It is a beautiful shot of the young family with three-year-old Alexander and two-year-old Gabriel matching in white shirts and red cardigans.
Sofia looks equally festive in a black cardigan and red tartan skirt. Her ensemble brings to mind the Emilia Wickstead outfit Duchess Kate wore in December 2018 to host a Christmas party for military families at Kensington Palace.
The Duke of Värmland looks debonair in the Swedish royal family’s Christmas portrait in a blue suit and white shirt.
Translated from Swedish, the holiday portrait’s message reads, “We wish you a wonderful and Merry Christmas from us."
Many fans are wishing the family a “God Jul” which means “Merry Christmas” in Swedish.
In 2018, the Prinsparet Instagram shared a similar style of portrait of Carl Philip and Alexander posing in front of Christmas trees, with the little boy dressed up in a Santa hat, Christmas sweater and red pants.
Looking at the images together highlights how big Alexander has gotten in just a year!
The Duke and Duchess of Värmland’s official Christmas card for 2018 featured both boys and their family dog taking a leisurely walk in the woods. The card read "God Jul" and “Gott Nytt Ar” which translates to “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year.”
