Archie is ready for his close-up in the Sussex family’s sweet Christmas card

Well, this is unique and cool!

Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan and Archie released a GIF as their 2019 Christmas card on Dec. 23. Instead of the message going through their SussexRoyal Instagram account, the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust had the honour of sharing the sweet animated wishes through its Twitter!

The GIF is a black-and-white image featuring the Duke and Duchess of Sussex laughing in front of a Christmas tree while their sweet little boy investigates a camera. Archie can be seen staring right into the lens, and it’s great to see him crawling! The animation includes several twinkling lights on the tree behind the proud parents, and includes the words, “Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from our family to yours.”

Janina Gavankar, who is known for her acting work on The Morning Show and The L Word and who attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding in 2018, took the photo, according to People. It was likely taken in Canada, where Meghan and Harry are currently on a six-week break from royal duties.

News broke on Dec. 20 that they had been spending “private family time” here and that Doria had joined them. It certainly makes sense for them to do so, since the Duchess of Sussex lived in Toronto for seven years while filming Suits, and still has plenty of Canadian friends here, such as Jessica Mulroney and her family. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau confirmed the news over the weekend, tweeting a welcome message to the Sussexes.

Archie is just seven months old, but he’s certainly had an adventurous life so far! Earlier this year, he went with his parents on their first royal tour as a family, travelling to South Africa where royal watchers were thrilled to see him meet Archbishop Desmond Tutu on the trip. Just last month, Meghan and Harry revealed their sweet little boy was crawling and had started eating solid food, so it won’t be long before fans are wishing him a happy first birthday. Time really has flown by!
