Duchess Kate plays with babies in Cardiff and visits women's prison in Surrey as her 24-hour UK tour continues

Duchess Kate's whirlwind 24-hour tour of the UK continued on Wednesday as she visited Cardiff and stopped in to a baby sensory class!
The Duchess of Cambridge looked happy and thrilled to be continuing this work, which is part of her Early Years initiative. On Jan. 21, she announced a "5 questions on the under-5s" survey, which will give UK parents the opportunity to sound off on how the next generation should be raised.

Kate arrived at the Ely and Careau Children's Centre in a camel Massimo Dutti coat, which she paired with black high heel boots. Underneath, she sported a $17 leopard-print skirt from Zara.

Kate quickly settled in and bonded fast with the children there, like this adorable little tot, who was very keen to play with a pilates ball with her!

Kate and Prince William used to live in Wales when the Duke of Cambridge worked as an air ambulance pilot. They called the island of Anglesey home for years before moving back to London to take more of an active role in royal life.

The Duchess of Cambridge holds a special place in her heart for Wales, and told other parents just that.
"It's nice to be back in Wales!" she said, according to HELLO! UK. "I was chatting to some of the mums earlier, It was the first year and I'd just had Goerge – William was still working with Search and Rescue and we came up here and I had a tiny tiny baby in the middle of Anglesey it was so isolated, so cut off. I didn't have any family around and he was doing night shifts. If only I had had a centre like this."

Kate was very interested in hearing from other parents about how the centre helps them and their children.

Kate also met Eleanor Logue, 11 months, who was enjoying some spaghetti in the baby sensory room!
Eleanor's mom, Rhi, told the duchess she loves visiting the centre because she can tell other parents she hasn't had sleep and they can relate.
"And everyone else is like, 'I haven't either!'" laughed Kate. "It normalizes it. No one is going to judge you for it. And it's a social thing for you."
Rhi later told HELLO! UK that she and the duchess had talked about post-natal depression and why centres are vital for new parents.
"It's lovely to see her in a place like Ely," Rhi said. "It's such a deprived area and there have been so many funding cuts. Sometimes you are scared to walk the streets, but coming here you feel safe."

Kate also told parents they would be travelling to Anglesey as a family at some point.

While inside a playhouse at the centre, Kate met two children and their guinea pigs, Willow and Bella. The duchess told them she had guinea pigs as a child, and they told her their pets really loved Brussels sprouts, which she didn't know the animals enjoyed.

On her second outing of the day, Kate visited HMP Send, a women's prison in Woking, England.

Kate took time to speak with former prisoners over sponge cake and (likely) tea about rehabilitation programs, addiction services and their needs when they were released. Her visit was in connection with The Forward Trust, which operates out of the prison.
The duchess was eager to speak to the women about the impact the first years of their life had had on them later. She has just launched a five-question survey on children under five years of age and what UK residents think the next generation needs and how it should be raised.
