On Jan. 28, Duchess Kate visited the Evelina London Children's Hospital to participate in a creative workshop run by the National Portrait Gallery's Hospital Programme. During her visit, Kate bonded with fellow mom Sarah Ibendahl about how long it took her husband to propose!
The Duchess of Cambridge had a busy royal engagement. She helped children with their photography, which is one of her passions. Additionally, Kate got to participate in an arts and crafts session. The mom of three also made time to interact with parents, including Sarah.
Sarah was at Evelina London with her three-year-old son Benjamin, who is being treated for an autoimmune condition. She met Kate in a ward at the children's hospital, and the two connected over their similar relationship history.
"We also bonded over the fact it took our husbands like nine years before they asked us to marry them," the mom from Blackheath, London revealed, according to HELLO! UK. "When I mentioned it she laughed politely and gave a knowing smile."
Royals fans will remember Prince William and Kate met when they attended St. Andrew's University. She reportedly caught his attention during a student fashion show in 2002! They eventually started dating. In the years that followed, Kate began to attend more and more royal events. In 2006, there were rumours they had split, but the pair reconciled.
In November 2010, Prince William and Kate announced they were engaged! The pair were privately engaged a month earlier. William popped the question on a trip to Kenya, which he recently reminisced about
during a speech at the UK-Africa Summit. As you will recall, the pair were married in April 2011.
Kate also shared a sweet interaction with two children at Evelina London. Luke Wheeler-Waddison, 10, and his four-year-old sister, Savannah, presented Kate with a rag wreath, a textured wreath made out of strips of fabric.
"She said Charlotte would love to have the pink wreath up in her room," Luke revealed. "It would be amazing if they did that."
Luke, who had a congenital heart condition before he was born, and his sister make wreaths to support Evelina London Children's Hospital. The siblings from Kent have already raised over $24,000, according to HELLO! UK.
Kate continued with her royal engagements on Jan. 29. She helped with breakfast duties at LEYF (London Early Years Foundation) Stockwell Gardens Nursery & Pre-School. The mom of three also participated in activity time!
Kate looked very stylish at the event. She wore an eye-catching teal coat, which she took off inside to showcase a cream Sézane sweater, black skinny jeans and black Russell & Bromley ankle boots.
