The best photos of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima's royal tour of Indonesia

Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander have embarked on a royal tour of Indonesia. After touching down in Jakarta on March 9, they kicked off their tour properly on March 10 with a full day of activities that continued for the rest of the week.
The Dutch royals visited Indonesia to deepen relationships between the two countries. Their itinerary focused on the shared history of the Netherlands and Indonesia as well as the future.
The busy trip saw the king and queen meet with locals and government officials and they had the chance to learn more about their host country's economy and nature conservation.

Delicious! The Dutch royals visited the Pipiltin chocolate factory in Jakarta, where they took in a demonstration and got to sample some of the scrumptious offerings.
The company works with farmers in various spots in Indonesia to produce cocoa in a sustainable way.

The Dutch royals paid an emotional visit to a Dutch cemetery on March 10. There are eight war cemeteries in Indonesia where Dutch victims from World War II are buried, along with women and children.

On March 10 in Jakarta, Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander greeted people during a meeting with the Dutch Society.
They also attended the opening of the "Innovation" photography exhibition at Erasmus House. The exhibition is part of a competition for young Indonesian photographers.

On the second day of the Dutch royals tour of Indonesia, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima met with Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, the sultan of the historic Yogyakarta Sultanate and governor of the modern Special Region of Yogyakarta, and his wife Gusti Kanjeng Ratu Hemas during a visit to Kraton Yogyakarta Palace in Yogyakarta.

On March 11, the pair took in the splendour of Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta. The complex consists of 240 Hindu temples and dates back to the ninth century.

Queen Máxima and King Willem-Alexander were greeted by villagers in Lintong Nihuta in Toba, North Sumatra on March 12.
They also wore traditional Ulos scarves. The Dutch royal family's official Instagram reported that according to ancient Batak stories, there are three sources that give warmth to man: the sun, the fire and the Ulos.
