The couple, who got engaged in September 2019, were due to marry at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace on May 29. It was to be a small ceremony with their closest friends and family, but will have to be held at a later date due to the current situation.
The pair's decision comes as U.K. Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced the country's lockdown will last for at least another three weeks as the fight against the coronavirus continues. The country had more than 100,000 confirmed cases as of this writing.
Earlier this year, Beatrice and Edoardo cancelled their wedding reception, which they had hoped to hold at Buckingham Palace after the ceremony. The COVID-19 pandemic was also responsible for it being called off. It was previously also reported that current restrictions on public gatherings meant only two guests would be able to attend the wedding.

Beabea - wow! I'm so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It's been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. by me!! “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to actually be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness”
We're sure we'll hear more from the couple about their plans to reschedule their nuptials – hopefully very soon. The cancellation may also indicate the couple want to be able to hold a reception in tandem with their wedding ceremony. Since family is important to both Beatrice and Edoardo, they likely also want to make sure everyone is able to attend both events.
As mentioned, the two got engaged in September while they were away in Italy. Edoardo proposed to Beatrice with a ring designed by Shaun Leane. The couple announced their happy news with photos taken by Princess Eugenie, Beatrice's younger sister, and Misan Harriman.
