And plié! Duchess Camilla recently had a video call with retired ballerina and former Strictly Come Dancing judge Dame Darcey Bussell and presenter Angela Rippon CBE. Clarence House shared video footage of the trio's call on Instagram on April 29, which is International Dance Day, and Prince Charles's wife revealed she has taken up ballet!

the Duchess of Cornwall is to become the Vice Patron of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), and will join the Queen, who has been Patron of the institution since 1953! The 72-yearpold chatted to Darcey and Angela about RAD's Silver Swans program, which is specially designed for those over 55 years of age.

Camilla visited the Royal Academy of Dance in 2018 to learn about the Silver Swans program and to meet with students and staff. The duchess also visited a Silver Swans program at a Salvation Army Centre in Christchurch in November when she and Charles were on their royal tour of New Zealand.

During the phone call, the royal opened up about her experiences taking ballet for the first time, as well as seeing the Silver Swans in action.

"When I came to the Royal Academy for the first time and somebody said to me I was going to see a Silver Swans class, I thought 'Oh dear, what on earth is this going to be,'" the duchess said at the start of the video.

"I thought it was going to be, you know, a lot of ancient people, like me, wobbling about on one leg," admitted the 72-year old, to the laughs of Angela and Darcey.

"I couldn't believe how good everyone was! They were so impressive."

She continued to share her experience of attending a class and getting a "group of ancient friends involved."

"When we're in London, we do it once a week, and it makes all the difference," Camilla enthused.

"I have always loved dance but I had never, never done ballet."

The duchess said one of the things she enjoyed about the classes was the camaraderie and the feeling "we were all in this together."

"I thought at first it was going to be very funny, and I thought I was going to laugh at everybody toppling over, but we concentrate so hard that I don't think we know what our friend next door is doing," she joked.

The duchess said she tried to focus on the tips from her teacher about maintaining her posture and a good frame.

"It doesn't matter whether you have done ballet or not, it's something that will make you feel better. It gives you a certain amount of confidence in yourself, it's just a bit of discipline," she added.

In the video, the Duchess of Cornwall also addressed how she and Charles are dealing with the coronavirus lockdown in the United Kingdom. She described the future King as a "workaholic" and divulged he was currently at his desk where he was... that's right, working! She said they both try to do something every day for their charities, to lend their support and encouragement.

Camilla also highlighted the importance of keeping active as people isolate during COVID-19. She does a bit of Silver Swans online classes as well as Pilates, plus, she enjoys going on long walks.
