Last December, The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Meghan and Harry's since closed Sussex Royal foundation signed an agreement saying they would share any money made by the fund, according to The Guardian. This would consist of any future donations made to the fund, which no longer does its own fundraising.
The publication reports Harry asked his portion of the more than $36,000 the fund received in 2019 go toward the Sentebale charity that he founded with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006. The organization works to help those affected by HIV/AIDS in Lesotho, Malawi and Botswana.
Just this week, the Duke of Sussex appeared in a special video message played during the 23rd International AIDS Conference to speak about Sentebale and its work on HIV/AIDS.
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was created after William and Harry's mother, Princess Diana, passed away in a horrific car crash in 1997. Since 2013, proceeds from the fund have gone to The Royal Foundation.
Last year, Duchess Meghan and Harry separated from The Royal Foundation and formed Sussex Royal. The Royal Foundation was renamed The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Harry and Meghan have since closed Sussex Royal and are looking to launch their new non-profit organization, Archewell, in 2021.
