Kate Middleton to attend lavish fundraising gala as guest of honour

New mother Kate Middleton will be guest of honour at a reception and lavish fundraising gala dinner on 24 October, shortly after completing her first solo engagement since the birth of Prince George.The Duchess of Cambridge, who moved into Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace last week with the adorable tot and her husband Prince William, won't have to travel far for the upcoming affair.The gala evening, which is being hosted by 100 Women in Hedge Funds, will be held at the Kensington Palace State Apartments. 

Kate is set to attend a reception for selected guests, and during dinner will present lucky winner Dame Amelia Fawcett, DBE with the coveted European Industry Leadership Award.

The evening is being held in honour of a cause close to Kate's heart, Action on Addiction, the charity of which the elegant royal is a patron. The UK-based charity works to provide treatment, education and support for those affected by addiction.

The beautiful Duchess will no doubt be keen to raise as much money as possible for the glamorous event, and guests are reportedly paying up to £60,000 a table for the best views.

Kate attended the same dinner in 2011  alongside Prince William, where she turned heads in a striking red gown.

William and Kate have been busy settling in to life at their new family home. The royal couple finally took up residence at Apartment 1A after an 18-month overhaul and a £1million revamp on all four floors.The Duke and Duchess have reportedly thought of a special way to celebrate their housewarming, by throwing a Winter Wonderland-themed gala in late November. Their palatial residence will reportedly be transformed into an ice palace, inspired by Doctor Zhivago, and legendary Bon Jovi is expected to perform.
