Hollywood photographer Jason Bell has been commissioned by Prince William and Kate Middleton to take Prince George's official christening pictures on Wednesday.

Clarence House announced the news on Tuesday morning. "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked Jason Bell to be the official photographer at the christening of their son, Prince George. Mr. Bell will take the official photographs at Clarence House following the service in the Chapel Royal.

"It was also confirmed that the pictures will be released on Thursday 24th October.

Oxford-educated Jason has photographed a number of A-list celebrities, including Nicole Kidman, David Beckham and Kate Winslet. As well as appearing in magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair, many of Jason's photographs hang in the National Portrait Gallery, of which the Duchess of Cambridge is patron.

The 44-year-old is also the man behind movie posters such as Love Actually, Billy Elliot and Bridget Jones 2: The Edge of Reason.

Jason will be one of only a small number of people at Prince George's christening, which William and Kate have decided will be an intimate family affair.

"We are not giving details of the guest list at this stage," the couple's spokesperson said at the beginning of the month. "All we are saying is that it will be a small intimate affair with close family and others, which include godparents."

One photographer initially thought to be in the running was 66-year-old John Swannell, who took the official portraits for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

But John suggested he had not been given the position when he spoke recently to The Sunday Times.

"I believe they have gone for someone younger," said John"And perhaps more modern."
