Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, née Kate Middleton, are set to be showered with gifts for their new royal baby – including a surprising gift from Mike Tindall. The former rugby player, who is married to William's cousin Zara Tindall, revealed he already has a special present in mind for the new arrival.

Mike revealed that he bought Prince George a Gloucester rugby shirt following his birth in July 2013, and he plans to continue with the sporting theme by ensuring baby number two is a Leeds United supporter.

"I got him (George) a Gloucester shirt – I think this time it's going to have to be a Leeds United shirt," he told Colin Murray on talkSPORT.

However the gift may not go down well with Prince William, who is a devoted Aston Villa fan. In a message to mark the Football Association's 150th anniversary in 2013, William joked that George will inherit his love for the team, and it's likely he'll feel the same about his second child.

"When Villa thrash Man U at Villa Park, my son will be there," he joked.

Mike and his wife Zara welcomed their first daughter Mia in January 2014, and the active couple have previously spoken of their desire to raise her with a sporting background in mind.

"We have always had sport in our lives and through our childhood," Zara said. "I think that really is important in every child's life to have that opportunity. I think we have got it off our parents and hopefully we can pass that on to Mia."

Excitement is building ahead of the birth of the royal baby, with scores of enthusiasts already gathered outside the Lindo Wing in anticipation of an announcement that Kate is in labour. William and Kate showed their appreciation to the fans, who have been camped out for days, by sending boxes of pastries and hot drinks to them on Tuesday morning.

It is thought that Kate is now several days past her due date and doctors will not want to wait too long before they induce her. It's unlikely that the great Kate wait will last too much longer as parking restrictions around the hospital were only put into place for the month of April.

If Kate gives birth on Wednesday, the baby Prince or Princess will serve as the ultimate anniversary gift for the royal couple, four years after they became man and wife.
